"Airplanes" is the second official and third overall single from B.o.B's debut studio album, B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray. The track features Hayley Williams, the lead vocalist of the alternative band Paramore, and was produced by Alex Da Kid with DJ Frank E receiving a co-production credit on the song. The music and chorus were written by Kinetics & One Love. The song was released to urban radio on April 27, 2010. "Airplanes" reached number one in New Zealand, and also in the United Kingdom, as well as the top three in Australia, Canada, the Republic of Ireland and the United States. "Airplanes, Part II", the sequel to the song, features rapper Eminem as well Williams. This collaboration led to a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals. Williams' appearance in the song was explained by herself and B.o.B in different interviews to MTV. Williams said Paramore was on. Show piano letters!

Bobby Ray Simmons, Jr. (born November 15, 1988), also known by his stage name B.o.B, is an American musician and record producer. He is currently signed under the labels of Grand Hustle Records, Rebel Rock Entertainment and Atlantic Records. His debut single "Nothin' on You" reached number one in both the U.S. and the U.K. "Airplanes", B.o.B's second single, emulated this success, peaking at number one and number two in the U.K. and the U.S. respectively. His third single, "Magic" recently became B.o.B's third consecutive top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. B.o.B was named the 9th Hottest MC in the Game by MTV of 2010. B.o.B was born on November 15, 1988 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Less than a month after he was born his family moved to Decatur, Georgia. B.o.B first began to gain major recognition at the start of 2007. An underground single "Haterz Everywhere", featured Wes Fif, gained the rapper recognition and peaked #5 on the U.S. Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles.
